Understanding the Higgs mechanism is one thing, but understanding the concept of mass in the framework of the general theory of relativity and quantum gravity is quite another. Many of the books on the subject are priced unaffordably in India and so I compiled a Wikibook with the assistance of the Book Creator on Wikipedia.
Here is the link for it. The chapters deal with loop quantum gravity (because it attempts to reconcile the approaches of quantum mechanics and general relativity), quantum field theory (because it deals with quantum mechanical models of many-body systems), general relativity, manifold spaces (because its study serves as a valuable precursor to understanding QFT) and quantum chromodynamics (because it serves as an alternate approach to understanding gravity by studying fluxes).
Wikipedia rocks.
